Tense situation prevailed here at the Station Chowk after the auto-rickshaw drivers there violently objected to the plying just after the launch of city bus in their self-declared domain on Tuesday morning. The city bus, on its approved route, was to drop and also to pick the passengers at the Raipur railway station. More then 50 auto-rickshaws are generally seen at any given point of the domain. To get control over the situation, Additional District Magistrate and Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP)(city) reached there. Earlier in the morning, as the bus reached at station, the Auto-rickshaw Drivers Welfare Union started raising slogans against the Raipur City Bus Limited (RCBL) and Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC). Feared with the attitude of auto-rickshaw drivers, the passengers were perplexed whether to enter in the bus or not. As the situation was getting tense, Superintendent of Police was informed about it. Following the instruction of Superintendent of Police, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) (City) Dr Lal Umed Singh and ADM S K Toppo reached the station immediately and controlled the situation. For avoiding any untoward incident, a force was also deployed there. Meanwhile, the representatives of auto-rickshaw drivers welfare union approached Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Prem Chandra for the interference and demanded from him to disallow the city bus from entering in the station premises. DRM Chandra issued order to Railway Protection Force (RPF) to restrict the buses from entering into the station premises. Following the orders issued by the DRM, the RPF personnel did not allow the buses to enter into the station premises. Despite this the buses were entered in the premises, which were seized by the RPF. The officials of RCBL and district administrations contacted the DRM and made an appeal to release the buses. On the appeal of RCBL and district administration, the DRM issued the order to release the buses. Talking to The Hitavada, DRM Chandra informed that the buses were seized because the concerned authorities had not taken prior permission from them. He added that today the buses have been released and the further decision regarding the entry of buses in the station premises would be taken in the meeting with the RCBL and district administration to be held on Wednesday. http://news.hitavadaonline.com/news/index.php?mode=single&page=9&n=19017
