Close shave for 36 Jet Airways passengers in Bhopal

Bhopal: A Hyderabad-bound Jet Airways flight with 36 passengers on board had a close shave after the nose wheel of the aircraft broke off while landing at the Raja Bhoj Airport in Bhopal today, airport sources said.

Rail traffic affected as train derails in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Rail traffic was affected after the Nizamuddin-Vishakapatnam Samata Express derailed in the Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh today, an official said.

All the passengers are safe, Chief Publicity Officer, Sambalpur Rail Zone, Nihar Ranjan Mishra said.

The incident occurred when the engine of the Vishakapatnam bound train came off the tracks near Bhimkhoj village, following which the services were affected, Mishra said.

Lucknow-Delhi AI flight cancelled

LUCKNOW: The pinch of the strike staged by the staff of Air India in protest against a management order asking them not to express their views in public continued to be felt at Amausi airport on Thursday as well. The crucial Air India flight (IC-411 /412) between New Delhi and Lucknow stood cancelled after its flyers got their reservations cancelled a day before. The backlog had its impact with the airlines deciding to cancel the flight. The flight was scheduled to arrive at Amausi airport at 9.00am and leave for the national capital at 10.00am.

37 Air India flights from Mumbai cancelled

Mumbai: The strike by 12,000 Air India (AI) employees — who belonged to Indian earlier — on Wednesday led to cancellation of 76 flights across the country, including 37 from Mumbai.

Airlines fly to smaller cities for growth in passenger traffic

New Delhi: India’s airlines are charting new routes to connect neglected, smaller cities that have some tourist or business potential, as the economy brightens and passenger numbers rise.

Airlines saw a spurt in passenger traffic, growing by 5.45% to 39.96 million between January and November, according to the regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The figure for December is not yet available. The number had contracted as much as 4.84% to 42.85 million in 2008.

Kingfisher Airlines launches direct flights from Kolkata to Patna and Ranchi to Raipur

Kingfisher Airlines has launched direct flights connecting Kolkata to Patna and Ranchi to Raipur. As per the release, with the launch of flights on the Ranchi-Raipur route, Kingfisher Airlines is the only airline to offer direct flights between the two cities. The flights are being operated using the ATR family of aircraft. The flights between Kolkata-Patna and Ranchi-Raipur are being operated as Kingfisher Red service.

Orissa CM Naveen Patnaik to inaugurate Puri-Surat Super fast train

Report by Orissadiary correspondent; Bhubaneswar (Odisha): A super fast train will operate from Puri to Surat from 20th December 2009. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate on 20.12.2009 at 5.45pm at Puri Railway station . Among others Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh,MP of Puri Pinaki Mishra and Legislature of Puri Maheswar Mohanty will join on the Occasion. As per the notification Puri-Surat Weekly Super fast (2743) will start from Puri in every Sunday at 7.50pm and reach Surat at 3.20am on Tuesday.

Plan for clean trains on trial

LUCKNOW: The wait for clean trains would soon be over. The trial of CTS (Clean Train Station) plan has started on all the platforms both at Lucknow and Varanasi.

CTS is about getting long distance trains, having a stoppage of 10 to 15 minutes at Charbagh, be cleaned there itself. A private agency has been roped in for mechanised cleaning of the trains. Under the plan, there is also a proposal under consideration to collect feedback from passengers on the cleanliness.

India’s Jet Airways Konnect launches New Routes

Jet Airways Konnect, Jet Airways’ all-economy no frills service, has launched new services on the Delhi-Chennai/Patna sectors, and on the Delhi-Raipur sector. Effective November 11th, 2009, there will also be a capacity enhancement on the Mumbai – Coimbatore sector.

Timings

Flight 9W 2213 departs Delhi at 05:40, arriving in Raipur at 07:25. Flight 9W 2214 will then depart Raipur at 08:00, arriving in Delhi at 09:50.

Flight 9W 2263 will depart Delhi at 16:05, arriving in Chennai at 18:40. Flight 9W 2264 will then depart Chennai at 19:20, arriving in Delhi at 22:00.

Jet Airways introduces twice weekly Bangkok–Gaya–Varanasi flights on the Buddhist circuit
