Raipur, Sep 5 : A district court here took up hearing of a murder case through video conferencing for the first time minutes after an e-court system was introduced in Chhattisgarh. Under-trial murder accused Abdul Moin Khan was produced in the e-court Tuesday at Raipur central jail. The police then urged the chief judicial magistrate through video conferencing that they needed more time to complete the investigation into the murder charges against Khan. The court then set Sep 14 as the next date of hearing. The judge was sitting in the district court room while the accused was produced in the video-conferencing hall at the jail where Chief Minister Raman Singh, Home Minister Ramvichar Netam and Law minister Brijmohan Agrawal were present to formally launch the system. Raman Singh said the new system would be expanded to Maoist violence hit districts to save time and reduce security threat to under-trials.
